Today Kristin and I started exploring our story of religion and radio and we found out some great information that Ireland doesn’t have a strong church following.  We then made a visit and interviewed the station manger and part owner of what will be the first Christian radio station to broadcast in Dublin. The station is scheduled to launch later this year and will be featured as the only AM station on the Dublin dial. After a year of broadcasting on AM, they can begin to transmit the station on the FM band.

The station has a really interesting format as they are going to combine mainstream pop music with upbeat Christian music, while adding elements of Christianity talk to round of their format. Currently the station is streaming on the website at www.spiritradio.com. We tuned in for a while after the interview and as described the station defiantly has an upbeat feel. Kristin and I are looking forward to getting some feedback on this new format and genre of radio from prospective listener as well as so

me additional interviews from others involved in the radio industry. This will help us to learn more about how a Christian radio station can get off the ground financial with what seems like little interest in a religious community.
